I'm addicted to you like Zydrate!

So I was recently exposed to the 16-year-old-fangirl wet dream also known as Repo! The Genetic Opera. When I first learned about this "rock opera" I must admit the urge to immediately book my lobotomy was quite strong. So naturally, due to my apparent inherent sadomasochism, I had to see it. As expected the lead character is a 17 year old main mary-sue. She has to do something or other, honestly I'm still not sure what, between complaining about how much her father cares about her. Oh, and Paris Hilton graces us with her ever vulgar presence and subjects us to her "singing" that sounds more like a cat being murdered with a power drill. However, and here's where it gets really weird, I was actually quite entertained by the whole thing. The few shitty characters are balanced out by a few awesome characters. All of which who could actually act, and sing! The songs themselves ranged from complete shit to well arranged and enjoyable musical scores. Because of this another layer is added to the relative enjoyableness of the thing. From the time I first watched the film the songs have been getting stuck in my head for days. Overall I give Reop! a gold star for being genuinely entertaining.

I've been blinded by the Twilight!

Wed Nov 26, 2008, 5:22 PM
So this Monday evening out of sheer morbid curiosity, my good friends and I decided to test our collective will power and attend the blatant sham of a vampire movie Twilight. I am grateful to Twilight, because past the gaping holes in plot, the scathing Mary-sue heroine, as well as the consecutive rape of any actual vampire lore and dialogue that could have been written better by Helen Keller's retarded twin, I do offer a thank you to Twilight. Now I know if I am ever subject to Chinese water torture it will surely be a delight! ~clubs~
